Noa Luna is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice revolves around the photographic medium. At the core of her work lies a deep exploration of self-development and consciousness, with recurring themes of healing from trauma and vulnerability. Through her art, Noa seeks to make these elusive concepts tangible, often pushing the boundaries of photography by blending both digital and analog techniques. Her experimentation doesn’t stop there; she extends her practice by integrating photography with other media such as ceramics and poetry, creating rich, layered works that speak to the complexity of 'the human experience'
Driven by her personal journey of self-discovery, Noa's art reflects her belief in a greater consciousness, in which our bodies serve merely as vessels for our spirits. Her work echoes the idea that life is a temporary experience, where lessons are learned, and the soul eventually returns to its source. Freek van Leeuwen writes in his book Geestkunde: "Existence means: 'to be'. That which 'is' is the human spirit. In addition, there is also creation in the form of the sensorial experienced, material world. In this the human spirit exists; the spirit is temporarily present there, as long as it has a material means of transport there. Through the material form, the body, the spirit lives in the material world.” Noa’s interest in the naked human body stems from this philosophy; the nude form in her art serves as a visual representation of the body as a pure, vulnerable vessel, temporarily carrying the spirit through this material world. Through this lens, her creations become both an exploration of her inner world and a means of connection with others. She hopes to offer comfort to those who resonate with her experiences, assuring them that they are never alone on this journey through life.
In addition to her autonomous work, Noa Luna is also intrigued by the commercial side of photography, particularly within the film and fashion industries. She has already ventured into shooting behind-the-scenes footage for promotional purposes and is in the process of building her portfolio in these fields. With a vision to elevate commercial work to new artistic heights, Noa aims to merge her autonomous creative approach with fashion photography, bringing a unique perspective to the commercial realm.
