In ‘why don’t you see me?’ Noa investigates how seriously her generation’s mental health is taken within today’s society. She felt like an outcast during her high school years, as she struggled with her mental health herself. It seemed to her as if she was the only one, but later it became clear this was not the truth. Feeling more comfortable about the topic after being in therapy for a few years, she decided to open up and ask questions to the people around her: how had they been dealing with their mental health and how did the mental health care system (in The Netherlands) treat them?
With this work Noa wants to create awareness for all the young people who are struggling with their mental health in the society we live in today. Their issues are not taken seriously enough. The mental health care system needs to change.
